This blog is dedicated to exploring the origins and the influence of the scientific revolution.
The world view that came from the scientific revolution has dominated our lives for 300 years. The success of this new way of understanding the world was so enormous that it was quickly imitated by thinkers in other fields. Its methods, principles and underlying assumptions were soon extended to every conceiveable domain of thought, and new technologies were created by the "New Science" of the 17th century which dramatically changed the world.
"Nature and nature's secrets lay hid from sight, God said, let there be Newton, and all was light.
The laws of nature, discovered by the astronomers and physicists of the 17th century were in the 18th century extended to the laws of human nature, the laws of society, of economics, of government.
